Short description: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with causes, manifestations and with principles of the treatment and preventions in particular diseases of farm animals. During classes interpretation clinical data, results of supplementary and laboratory tests are discussed. They will acquire knowledge about diagnosing and proceeding in diseases. Students learn diagnostic proceedings and monitoring the health status on farms.
Full description: Infectious diseases : procedure with disease entity. Herd management for disease prevention. Internal diseases : recognize, treatment, prevention. Surgery : recognize, conservative treatment and surgery. Physiopathology of large animal reproductions.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: - describes and interprets the causes and symptoms, describe and interpret pathological changes, applies the principles of treatment and prevention in specific disease - collects, analyzes and correctly interprets the data and the results of clinical and additional laboratory tests - implements the principles of diagnostic and health monitoring of farm animals - apply appropriate course of action in case of notifiable diseases and identify and interpret the relevant provisions of the law Skills: - performs veterinary interviews and clinical examination of the animal - collects and protects the sample, properly analyze the results of laboratory tests, uses diagnostic equipment according its intended purpose and principles of safety - selects and uses appropriate treatment, develop and implement prevention programs - demonstrates ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Social competences: - able to critically evaluate their own and others' actions and propose a solution for the creation of a strategy for the prevention and control of livestock diseases and to improve their productivity - demonstrates accountability for the decisions to the people and animals - is aware of the effects of decisions, especially those that interfere with the natural environment - able to work with other professionals in the field of public health
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: The rating obtained for the classes of 50% and an assessment of credit obtained from the lectures 50% -> exam.
